What do working people gain, From their hard labor in vain; I have seen mortals weighed down, As God only wears a frown. It is nice what God has done, The beauty that had begun; Everything falls in place, The right time He sheds His grace. A sense of eternity, Replacing anxiety; He has put in our mind, To remain humble and kind. But mortals still cannot get, What the Lord is doing yet; Since the beginning of time, To stop us from sinful crime. I know there is nothing better, Than follow to the letter; To be cheerful and enjoy, Rather than to just destroy. What is good within their lives, A gift from God that survives; To eat and drink what is good, With working hard as you should. Whatever God does will last, Forever that He would cast; Nothing added or removed, Understanding and behooved. God does so people will fear, As to honor and revere; So what happened in the past, Memories will still outlast. In the past is present now, Of what the Lord will allow; And what the future will bring, Can only honor the King. What happens in the future, Gives healing at the suture; That was wounded in the past, Was caused by a stormy blast. Copyright © 2017 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
