 ramblings and things

The day the pensioners struck
There was chaos on the street
Massed Mobility scooters advancing
In remorseless avenging fleet.
Smartphones creating
A mobile command centre
Carefully choosing, for effect,
The best streets and roads to enter
Until with military precision
A right wheel brought them all
Into forward facing barricade
Slap against the Town Hall wall
Thus strategically positioned
With ranks four of five deep
Rota were quickly issued for
A staggered afternoon sleep.
The Mayor sent a delegation
Which they quietly let out
Asking to see the leader, and
Please, what was it all about.
In a roar of massed voices
Every single woman and man
Screamed out in deadly unison
Just because we can.
With dignified precision,
Their point having been made,
The massed band withdrew
In slow and stately parade.
It was as though it never happened
Yet in a quietly dignified way
Powers that be were reminded
Grey Power can rule, OK!!!
Ignore us at your peril
Listen and take note
We’ve all worked for this country
And we are the class that vote.
So if you go for office,
Whether it be Councillor or MP,
You"re not there to serve yourself
But folk like him and me
