"Bleeding Heart"

I didn’t believe it was possible; I mean, who can live without water
I didn’t think it could hurt this much
I have always known I would give my life for my daughter
I have also known that if her life ended, mine would have ended too; her warmth I long to touch

This is different; this is worse
To have your child completely disown you, no longer your counterpart
To have your child ignore you and act as though you don’t exist in this universe
This is the definition of a bleeding heart

It would be easier if I were dead
I wouldn’t know this feeling
I used to be a mother, now I’m seeing red
I’m just an egg donor, disregarded and unappealing

How can I possibly believe in my worth when my own child discards me like yesterday’s trash?
Maybe this is what I deserve; there is a saying, ash to ash
