My Shadows

Written by Cynthia Louise Baker Bogear
January 29, 2018

I sit in the still darkness in the shadows of night,
Thoughts of all I had once hoped for trickle through my mind,
Ages passed upon me and my heart had became weary,
My smiles once shined across a room now hardly reflecting on my face,
I watch as he sleeps by me but my hurt I can't explain,
My love not changing my heart only aching,
His love plays with me and gives me joy many times,
I wish I understood how I was pushing him from me,
Words some spoken and in silence tears fall,
I fear my own words for all I seek is his eternity,
Someday I hope that he will see me in my shadows,
I hope for the long tender kiss that will claim my heart,
I want to touch his smile and feel his arms embrace me,
Until such a time can become real I will imagine it in my shadows.
