     “She’s Not a Bitch”

She said she
was sorry
she didn’t mean
to be such a
bitch
to him yesterday
he smiled
“you know I
hate it
when you call
yourself that
and it wasn’t
yesterday
it was the
day before,
besides
I don’t care
how you act
around me
as long as
I am getting
some of your
personal attention”
she turned
around
and flipped
him off
as she walked
away
“how’s that
for attention?”
not understanding
the amount of
truth
weighing down
the words
he just showed
her
he let his
smile fade
not feeling
the effort
was worth the
work
after she
disappeared
down the hall
knowing
he took
way too much
enjoyment
from these
little moments
of attention
she gave him
but he couldn’t
help himself
she just had
this way
about her
something so
unique
that he just
never could
capture
what it was
in his mind
that she had
and the others
were lacking,
all her parts
just snapped
together
so perfectly
around a
one of a
kind
personally
that he had
yet
to meet it’s
equal,
though when
others
add all
this up
to them
it spells
Bitch,
he had a
hard time
understanding
that about people
how could
their be
this great
divide
between opposing
views
of this woman,
he wondered
if jealousy
was the reason
they awarded
her
that title
she always
had
treated him
better than
kind
though he was
a bias judge
from the start,
she was very
outspoken
even quite
blunt
with her
comments
you always
knew
where she
stood
without having
to ask
or even
wanting to
know,
she never tries
to hide anything
about herself
she doesn’t care
what other people
think about
her
not to say
she was rude
or even mean
she just didn’t
believe in
dressing up
her image
projecting a
false front
to better
fit in
with what ever
crowd
she was wading
through
at the time,
you knew who
you were getting
five minutes
after meeting
her
some people
saw these traits
as cool
others
took it as
being a
Bitch,
but why
all that
pushed her
over the top
and made her
so irresistible
to him
he couldn’t
tell you
it’s not like
she was the
first bad girl
in his life
and he isn’t
confusing
bad girls with
with bad
relationships
he has had
enough of both
to know the
difference,
she comes
back around
the corner
he looks at
her
as if he is
expecting to
see the
answers to
his questions
revealed to him
if he stares
at her
long enough,
she only sees
his actions as
weird
a word she
uses
to describe
their interactions
more often
then he knew,
she didn’t say
a word
this time
as she walked
by him
he’s not
realizing his
sixty second
stare down
might have had
something to do
with that
she keeps walking
down the hall
knowing he’s
still watching her,
ten feet before
turning the corner
she holds her
hand
high above
her head
flipping him off
again
without ever
turning around
and says
in a sassy voice
“just giving you
some of that
personal attention
you so crave
from me”
before turning
the corner,
“yea
I can see
how some people
might take that
the wrong way”
he laughs,
he was still
looking down
the hall
when he hears
her holler out
from the
connecting hallway
“Hey!
I got something
for You!”
as he sees
only her arm
stick out from
around the corner
flipping him off
for the third
time,
she sure doesn’t
help herself out
any
he thinks to
himself,
but I swear
she’s really not
a bitch…
