     “Girl in the Rain”

The rain was
lightly falling
when he
imprisoned
her
in his mind
trying to make
a great escape
from the
dreariness
of a sunless
winter day,
he wasn’t quite
sure
what he was
going to do
with her
now that he
trapped her
in his conscious
thoughts,
gray
was the only
shade
the sky was
showing him
as he took
her
like a Barbie
and dressed her
for a walk
down a sunny
stretch of
street,
his out look
on the day
was already
improving
as he dropped
her
into a pair
of tight shorts
and sneakers
but he just
couldn’t decide
on the right
top
torn between
a really loose
fitting tank
or a tight
form fitting
tee,
he took her
fair skin
and kissed it
with two
months of
summer sun
giving her a
healthy
radiant
glow,
the drops of
rain
outside
were growing in
volume
sounding like
tiny pebbles
as they struck
his window panes,
to combat this
he brightened
up
her sun
a couple of
notches
giving her some
Ray-Bans
to handle the
glare,
but her casual
walk
without reason
didn’t have any
flow
so he tied
a leash
to her wrist
with the other
end
being held up
by a bouncy
little dog,
her steps were
well measured
her legs
pulled her along
at an unhurried
pace
as her little
dog
shot
from side
to side
like a spinning
top
at the end
of a string,
he was beginning
to feel warm
inside
as a jagged
flash
cut across the
charcoal sky
three seconds
later
a loud crack
followed the
outline
of missing
light,
but all he
sees
is a blinding
sun
reflecting off
her sunglasses
as she owns
that strip of
sidewalk
steadily following
behind that
bouncy dog
dressed in
sneakers
shorts
and the decided
a pond
very tight
form fitting
tee
“I hope it
rains
all day
long”
he says
as he leans
back
in his chair
looking through
his rain washed
window panes
at the beautiful
girl
walking her dog
on a sunny
summer day…
