Through Winter Woods (Sonnet)

As I embark through woods on Winter's eve,
empowered by tranquility within,
in awe my eyes now focus to perceive,
where sunlight ends and shades of night begin.

For beauty such as this is found per chance,
where ice shards glisten on God's sacred trees,
where heft of snow doth cloak the barren branch,
where dwindling light embraces Winter's breeze.

Enchanted woods once detailed forest green;
yet, pristine spectra beg the eye behold,
now painted white in splendor crystalline,
as rays of sun beam down to warm my soul.

Still frozen from the drifting snows of time,
my body stumbles drunk on nature's wine.
