The Raven If beauty was its business
Then the Raven would fall short...
For it is no Robin Red Breast
Or no other bird of art.
We see beauty in the Blue Jay...
In the Cardinal and the Dove...
And the Parrot and the Cockatoo
Are exotic birds we love.
But the Raven's made a symbol
Of darkness and of death.
The poem by Edgar Allen Poe
Makes one take a longer breath.
Yet our God created Ravens...
I see myself as one of them...
For I have no worldly beauty
Ahh, but in the spirit realm
God uses this poetic Raven...
No, I am no polished Poe...
But God's Words fly through my spirit
And I choose to let them flow.
Perhaps I've fed a hungry prophet...
An Isaiah in the raw.
Oh, God could have used a songbird
Because a Raven brings no awe.
But He chose the lowly Raven...
To feed the greatest prophet then...
And I believe He chooses Ravens
To do this time and time again.
So many Ravens in the Bible
From King David down to Paul...
God chose each to do His work
And used them greatly one and all.
You may think you have no talent
And can do nothing for the Lord...
But if there's a calling on this Raven
Then please examine yourself hard.
Because each of us are given gifts...
No, they're not exactly all the same
But they come with all God's blessing
And bring Glory to His Name.
So prepare yourself, dear Raven...
Just lift up your wings to fly.
Our God has work for you to do
And for Ravens such as I.
