No sense will make of darkest days
Such as this day where death displayed
It's ugly face, its heartless heart
Fibers of life, this day it tore apart
We watch in horror and deepest grief
How could this be, again repeat
Young lives would pay on battlefield
That once was school more dark arcade
A man once young, would gun down souls
Snuffed out like that as breath he stole
Today someone will try to hold
What's left of kiss and hugs grown cold
How does a mind sink to such depth?
To point of no return, to kill inept
Innocence yet wipe he would
Out the young where youth once stood
There is no way one could explain
Such anger that would fall as rain
Upon victims that he would blame
For heinous act, life's blood he'd drain
And on this day tears will become
To tell of those daughters and sons
That left their home to learn once more
Of life and death, madness would score
Written for the victims and their families
At Marjory Stoneman High School of Parkland Florida
Of Darkest Valentines
God, pour out your peace and love this day
