If it was not for determination
I'd cross my heart without cause
it has always been life I've treasure
more so now, that awareness has
widened my horizons..
Strange how living can change over
night, one minute we think we know all
the answers, the next, we have no clue
till something happens that not only
opens our eyes, but our hearts to what
we are living for..
My grandfather told me when I was
very young watching the sun set.
'My child, when you think you can touch
the sun you will, cause your warmth
will reflect as bright as that fire ball
you see right now.'
To this day I've never forget his words
he was old and very wise, knew someday
I would touch the sun in which I've done,
radiating a different kind of warmth..
That warmth of compassion, understanding
loving to the best of my knowledge has
grown into wisdom, a teacher in my time,
writing what flows within the soul of me.
