Remembering  Chris Farley

You achieved unwanted prominence
Best known as a bumbling clown
The big man and the comic who
For laughs, kept falling down.

But that, you found distasteful
And yet, did play the part
While hoping to become a star
Like Redford or Bogart.

Even so, you were a hedonist
And though quite oft depressed
Did live your short life recklessly
Almost as if possessed.

Yes, haunted by your demons
When you were all alone
Away from those you entertained
As often you were prone.

You seemed to have a death wish
And thus, in silence cried
Falling prey to drugs and alcohol
Until the day you died.

Oh, what a needless tragedy
To think you never knew
That people loved the clown you were
Chris Farley, that was you!
