Wisdom is much better than gold,
Perception better than silver;
Showing as events will unfold,
As a means for to maneuver.
Gold and silver are showing wealth,
But not how you should understand;
Measuring of spiritual health,
And what the laws of God demand.
The road of the righteous deflects,
Turns away from the evil ways;
Everything that God rejects,
That causes each of us that strays.
Whoever guards preserves his life,
Using wisdom and understanding;
Enabled to endure the strife,
As to how God is demanding.
Pride goes before the destruction,
A rude spirit before the fall;
Temptation brings on seduction,
Being enticed as to enthrall.
Best to be a lowly spirit,
Than for plundering with the proud;
Being humble in your merit,
While not arrogantly loud.
Whoever gives thought to the Word,
Succeeds with blessings from the Lord;
Discovers goodness what is heard,
As his faith will bring a reward.
The wise of heart is discerning,
The sweetness of speech persuasive;
And opens the mind to learning,
Causing one to be assuasive.
The fountain of life from insight,
With good sense to the possessor;
Because of discipline from the light,
The Lord as an intercessor.
The wise heart disciplines the tongue,
As the lips add persuasiveness;
For whatever the mouth has flung,
Bringing peace through pervasiveness.
