Stay and fight

I was strolling by the river

When I saw a shadow near

She was standing by the water's edge

Her eyes were filled with tears

She'd lost her baby, lost her man

Distressed and full of fear

She said she'd had enough of life

She was going to end it here

She'd never had a touch of luck

From cot to twenty one

The sun has never shone on her

She'd never known her mum

She was brought up by the city

In a care home called Hope Hall

She worked her fingers to the bone

But the profits came to naught

Well, I'm not much but I could see

A chance to put things right

A chance to help a lonely soul

A chance to save a life

What could I do, what could I say

To make her change her mind?

Inspired I cried 'I love you'

'I'm your future stay and fight'
