     “The Sun of Spring”
           “Part 1”

She sat out
front
in her small
well-manicured
lawn
her little dog
running from corner
to corner
chasing some
imaginary prey
as she leaned
back
in her patio
chair
taking in Spring’s
first new sun
during a
small block
of personal
time
she could call
her own
with only the
occasional
incoming text
interruption,
there is still
a slight nip
in the air
the low hanging
sun
still struggling to
dissipate
the morning dew
but the breeze
is calm
the warming rays
of light
are more than
enough
to battle back
the damp
crispness
pushing in on
her,
she’s barefoot
in shorts
holding her legs
in the air
one foot above
the ground
the soles of
her feet
hovering above
the water droplets
hanging on to
the top of
the tips of
grass
she slowly lowers
her feet down
on to the
cool spheres
of water
sending a chill
up her legs
with a wave of
goosebumps
following closely
behind
as the moisture
transfers from the
wet canopy
of the lawn
to the bottoms
of her bare
feet
she closes her
eyes
letting her thoughts
roam around
the yard
unchained
she leans back
a little more
raises her feet
to the sun
holds them there
while the sun
washes away
the chills
and the tiny
little bumps
running the length
of her legs
and in less than
a minute
the creamy softness
of her skin
returns
almost beckoning
for some warm
hands
to follow that
same trail
down
her legs
sliding lightly
against her skin
starting from her
thigh
slowly retracing
the curves of
her legs
till their cupping
her bare feet,
Spring has a
way
of mixing in
romance
with everyday
pleasures
she thinks
to herself
bringing the
fantasies
of Winter
to life
under the soothing
rays
of a new Spring
sun…
