Lewis's Lasting Legacy
a half century of profound love
shared with his beautiful lady,
a lady who hereto will carry memories,
times over campfires with his stories,
tales of floods, fires, emergency medicine in the field,
and stories of family adventures,
a vast family remains to carry
images of a genuine man
adorned in a white cowboy hat
and big framed glasses,
joyfully caring for his farmette and horses,
images of harmonica tunes lulled the world,
memories that carried through heirs
and the gleam of his eye-his grandchildren,
a man of honor,
holding sacred a brotherhood,
philanthropist for little league and sportsman,
all while through two careers providing for family,
three-quarters of a century came
calling him home,
to shepherd from above
with angel wings and prayer,
here below the memories will carry
until meeting again in the kingdom.
