This is a land of double standards
Of don't do as i do, just as i say
Where they subsidise the rich
And take poor's incomes away.
Free meals for the disadvantaged
A thing the ruling classes hate
Are quietly taken away while
MPs eat subsidised by the state
A land of double standards
Almost a Hogarthian picture
Where the food banks expand
As the rich get ever richer
A land of hypocrisy
Selfishness and greed
With a casual disdain
For the many who are in need.
This is a land of inequality
Of poverty and virtual slavery
An insult to those millions
Who fought long and bravely
Who over the centuries,
Took that principled stand
For a better world for all
For a fit and promised land.
Now we are ruled by ruthless villains
Who acquire more national wealth
Who daily do it very blatantly
Without pretence of any stealth
And we stand at attention
And sing Land of Hope and Glory
As we watch those bastards turn it
Into a land of grasping whorey.
