Together (Only just)

Both souls know that a walk will do them good, yet she strides six paces ahead of him and he looks at the back of her neck pondering with each laboured step what sorcery drew him to this gaunt figure of recalcitrance Whilst she stares defiantly ahead into a low winter’s sun ruing the day she married the fat bumbling fool in her shadow and yet neither are able to muster the will to call a halt to their misery. Better to show the world how unhappy they are and how perfect their dislike for each other that no man or woman can put asunder
