Now I’m not a bird watcher
It’s not all look the same.
It’s because I can’t remember
Each species by type and name.
I think they look sinister, those
Descendants of the Tyrannosaur
Ready for carnage and havoc if
They ruled this Earth once more.
So I’ve got my own classifications
That works well enough for me,
With thenumberofsub species
Reduced to a manageable three:
Then there are the Sparrows
Of different size and hue
The same criteria are applied
To the types of Crow too.
Lastly there are Robins
Which pass identification test
Because both sexes have
Their distinctive red breast.
You can talk of your pigeons,
Hawks, Eagles and tits
My simplified system
Just suits me to bits.
Three types of sparrow
Big, medium, small
The same applies to crows.
Andforme that covers all.
Not forgetting the Robin of course
I’ve created a simplified picture
Though I know there’s little hope
Of convincing any twitcher.
Now birdwatching Is easier
Because all you need to know
Are the three new classifications
Of Robin, Sparrow and Crow..
