Tough Love

I struck the rock twice in a moment of doubt.
Now I’m called elsewhere and I lament.
The words did appear on tablets of stone.
I told the people what our Father meant.
I saw a land that is full of promise and hope,
With fruit and love and feelings of joy.
But I will not enter as my Lord commands.
Not once will I laugh or get to enjoy,
The land we were given after so much time spent,
Father forgive me as thy will be done.
I will honor my Lord, as I pray and lament.
