“He Wanted to Believe”
He wanted to
believe
today would be
different
but he really
wasn’t feeling
it,
not a single
degree of
change
to his world
which was
still on
permeant tilt
since that day
she hit him
with the truth,
he was still
trying to process
everything
she had said
getting stuck
behind
the actual
meaning
of her words
and not the
message
she was trying
to convey,
he had
unknowingly
hurt her
his boyish
actions
taking a heavy
toll
on her inner
self
while he was
not understanding
even good
intentions
can come out
horribly wrong,
some wounds
will never heal
even when caused
in an accidental
manner
the pain they
inflected
on her
was much too
deep
for her ever
to see him
in the same
light
he had been
accustomed
to standing in
whenever
he was
around her,
he had hoped
today
would be different
the sun would
bring with it
a way for him
to get around
all the mistakes
he had made
with his good
intentions
allowing her
to just look
once more
in his direction
without that
mixture of
sorrow and
hate
in her eyes
and let him
see
that emerald
green
if only for
a minute
before she
turns her back
and flees
from his life
forever…
