The Word of the Lord came to me,
To open my eyes as to see;
What do you mean by a proverb,
Repeating as said in the Word.
The fathers ate some sour grapes,
While some memory escapes;
Teeth of children are set on edge,
Looks like they were hit with a sledge.
As I hear the Lord God declare,
This proverb no longer will share;
For as I live there is no chance,
For this proverb for to advance.
Behold, all souls belong to God,
Regardless of how badly flawed;
The souls of the father and son,
Souls of each and every one.
But the corrupted soul shall die,
Any souls that cheat, steal or lie;
If they do what is just and right,
They will be taken to the light.
If they eat not on the mountains,
They will drink from living fountains;
Nor look on idols with their eyes,
Wisdom from God will make them wise.
Who defiles no other wives,
Guaranteed to have fruitful lives;
Nor with women menstrual impure,
They will be righteously mature.
If you did not oppress someone,
Blessings from the Lord have begun;
If the pledge of debtors restored,
Blessings will befall from the Lord.
If you do not lie, cheat or steal,
God rewards you with a new deal;
Helping those who hunger and thirst,
Will keep their lives being the worst.
He that does not take a profit,
Loans getting an interest cut;
Withholding justice man to man,
Supporting on a godly plan.
Walk in the statutes of the Lord,
Remaining within one accord;
Keeping His rules to be active,
And able to righteously live.
