I urge you as sojourners,
Abstain from fleshly passion;
For being as the learners,
In a heavenly fashion.
Wage not war against the soul,
Honorable what you do;
Because Heaven is your goal,
As long as you remain true.
When someone speaks against you,
They may see all your good deeds;
Realizing that you tell true,
And God caters to your needs.
Submit yourself to the Lord,
To the ordinance of man;
Show He is loved and adored,
Which is fitting for His plan.
Whether a king as supreme,
Or governors to punish;
Reality is your dream.
Earthly pleasures admonish.
For this is the will of God,
And silence foolish people;
Showing Him honor and laud,
Go proclaiming the Gospel.
Live as people who are free,
Using to conceal evil;
Wisdom gives insight to see,
Disguises of the devil.
Honor others with the love,
From the Lord that you revere;
The Emperor from above,
With respecting as you fear.
Be subject to your master,
Giving him all your respect;
Making the day go faster,
When you do never reject.
For this is a gracious thing,
When you would endure the grief;
For the blessing it will bring,
With your firm faith and belief.
What glory in if you sin,
Beaten for it to endure;
But when doing well within,
Suffering to make you pure.
