Trapped

Trapped

She cleverly baited her
Trap which I duly fell into:
Looking back there was
Nothing else that I could do.

Then she gave me a Judas Kiss
But what made it worse
That kiss came from such
An unexpected source.
She'd thrown her arms around me
And thento my  surprise
Turned and abused my wife
Hatred burned deep in her eyes.

Not so very long before
We'd thought she was a friend
But her action brought
Such thoughts to an end.

I hope she's happy now that'll
She caused so much distress
Hardly the behaviour expected
From a mature school mistress.
Sadly it seems such people
Don't feel any shame
In their eyes it seems they
Are never ever to blame

Which it seems is
Sufficient excuse
To subject others
To their abuse.

How to explain
That  strange situation?
Perhaps she'd forgotten
That day's medication
When she threw her arms
Around me to give me that kiss
In, what I realise now, was that
Of a poisoned serpent's hiss.
