 words from the soul

Dreams for Haiti

The mountain climbed into the earth
Water hiding in mirth of springs
yet thirst gravels the throat
Quiet enters dawn
and toes scrape against the dirt; dry and callous
Song opens the horizon
Bare vigilance as
radiance weighs perception;
Watching the sun burst into light
While the old woman
Carefully leans into the weeds
finds a seasoned fruit
she will stand tall again despite
flinging gravel
Spreading dust into dreams
Barely visible in the distance
Hope scarcely touches chapped lips
Still lingering a God who sees more than life
Holds heart to hear
I am I am in you.
