In that day shall this song be sung,
That we have a real strong city;
Singing by both the old and young,
Where the walls are tall and pretty.
Open the gates for the nation,
So that the righteous can enter;
Trustworthy for the salvation,
For avoiding the tormentor.
God keeps those safe maintaining trust,
Their faith is maintained within Him;
Disregarding pleasures of the lust,
And are given spiritual vim.
Trust in the Lord throughout each day,
As an enduring protector;
Love and honor as you obey,
No longer as an objector.
He knocks down those who live on high,
Brings down an elevated town;
Throwing down to the dust who try,
In an attempt to steal His crown.
They are trampled under His feet,
That have oppressed soles of the poor;
In triumph He sounds their defeat,
Like a lion a fruitful roar.
The righteous way remains level,
Along the straight and narrow path;
A path that avoids the devil,
And will be spared from any wrath.
Wait for Him as judgments unfold,
Desiring that His fame will grow;
As you proclaim as it is told,
The benefits He will bestow.
I look to Him throughout the night,
My spirit within me that seeks;
Wisdom coming from His insight,
For hearing His voice when He speaks.
If the wicked are shown mercy,
They do not learn about justice;
Since they are unable to see,
How to deal with being righteous.
For the Lord is ready to act,
They will see and be put to shame;
By angered judgment as a fact,
Fire consumes He will proclaim.
