Someone Send Out A Search Party

a complete stranger said to me
you sure look different
I had to laugh
well I think it was a laugh
a sort  of begrudging chuckle
accompanied by a shrug

yeah
Mister
you got me pegged
don't you
or what's left...

it was surprising that he even saw me
I've been missing from my life a lot lately
I look in the mirror sideways
and I see someone I don't recognize

one day I expect to look
and perhaps see no one
looking back

this isn't depression
this is pure fact
change is gonna come
and it sure has

...planting its fat bottom
and gotten sorely belligerent alright
who would've thought an absence of something
once so familiar and dear
could have caused so much pain

someone
send out
a search party

I've gone missing.
