An Unopened Book

Starts with one

How did we get here,
when did love, kindness, disappear.
How did we turn into what we've become.
What did we do, can it be undone.
Why do we speak with anger and hate.
Yelling, screaming constant debate.
Differences, closed off our mind.
Love for another, lost in time.
Selfish greed, takes place of heart.
When did it happen, why did it start.
Laws are made to defend a few.
Pride in country is all but through.
People go around disrespect each other.
Instead of showing love for another.
Our Rights, freedom, liberty.
Taken away from you and me.
How do we get back from where we are.
To show love to come from the heart.
The answer is simple, yet is rarely done.
It starts small, it takes only one.
One person to show love for another,
On act of kindness leads to others.
Simple smiles, just small things,
Do it and watch what it brings,
Talk to each other, open your mind.
It won't change right away, but it will in time.
We must stop, undo what's been done.
A act of love starts with just one.
