In Memory Of A Sparrow

He was the musicians' musician
He knew it in his heart:
He was the  musicians' musician
Ready to play his part.
He stayed at home and practised
Waiting and waiting for the call
But for some strange reason
His phone didn't ring at all.

He took  to social media
Bemoaning it wasn't right
That while he was over looked
Festivals employed  all the shite.
He was the musicians' musician
But just didn't seem to understand
He might have been good but was
Thought devious and underhand.

The world continued turning
While he spat his dummy out
Unconcerned and unfazed
By his Social Media shout.
There's a lesson in his story:
Though he may think he's a god
The world in general hates
Any obnoxious little sod.

So if you have a talent
Or if you have a skill
You still can't manage
Without others' goodwill.
And if you just whinge,
And if you just moan,
Talented or not you'll spend
A lot of time on your own.
