     “Minor Player”

She didn’t care
if she hurt
him
he was a
very minor
player
in her game
rarely moved
around
on the board
only used as a
sacrifice piece
to help her
get
what she
needed
from someone
else,
he stood there
quiet and
unflinching
waiting for her
command
to blindly fall
on his sword
as he was
expected
to do,
she never
felt
any guilt
when her lips
told him a
lie
while the others
in the room
were watching
him
perverting his
smile
into a look of
vile stupidity,
he was
not understanding
that their
laughter
had come from
his grossly
misplaced trust
in a woman
that he had
no personal
value too,
she casually
fed him
words
that in his
mind
held great
importance
to her
thinking they
shared
a lasting
moment
over some
confidential
information
between friends,
but it was
really just
a regurgitated
story
that contained
very little of
her actual
real life
drama
just something
that she let
him
foolishly protect
from the others
even though
they
all knew the
real truth,
using her pawn
as a clown
to keep her
real friends
entertained
dancing around
her words
as the whole
crowd applauded
him,
she didn’t care
if she hurt
him
he was a
very minor
player…
