The Old Cedar Box
The Old Cedar Box
For many years the old cedar box sit at the foot of the bed
What secret memories it has held for oh so many years
Items left alone and over the decades they were spread
Just a old uniform folded with care from a yesteryear
Worn proudly during the terrible World War Two
A veteran so proud and full of honor for his service
The man who many years ago I had to bid adieu
He that taught me that small things can precious
Now I as I stand in the shadow of old age
I have come to understand his meanings
We stand in this life for a short time upon a stage
Sometime I can still hear his whisperings
So now I fold my own uniform from my time at war
Neatly laid next to his for someone in the future to find
For many years the old cedar box sit at the foot of the bed
What secret memories it has held for oh so many year
