GREEK PHARISEES?

You don't speak Greek that way
As chewing bulbs
Or chewing yam
Or eating sauce
Or gnawing salt.

You don't post temptations
As if you're running
On mountain crest
A nasty jump
To valley floors
With bloody shocks
Blood dripping legs.

You don't speak Greek that way
On parlor floors
Sugar cane stems'
Disbanding chops
To spurn my God
The Hebrew God

Such terms and pains and rents
Sure pains and tears
What burden tough
Collapsing from
Pinnacle points
Self burnt and spoilt.

You don't speak Greek that way
As if you're sick
And falling from
Collapsing point
For lack of trick
Greece won by Troy.
