Long  Dark  Night  [ 3 ]

I could hear someone calling my name, it seemed like a long distance
away, I tried to answer, but no words came out, what a strange dream
This is, I tried to open my eyes but found myself unable to

I felt someone shaking me, I heard my Dad's voice telling me that
I had to wake up, there are other unfamiliar voices hovering
near, someone said she's in shock, from all the bites

I'm aware of being so very hot and thirsty but still can't manage to open
my eyes or wake up from this strange dream, twelve hours later I'm
told, I finally do wake up in a hospital with a temperature of 103

Dad and mom are hovering over me, with looks of deep concern on
their faces, I try to tell them how sorry I am, only my lips are so
swollen, I can't open them, I indicate I'm thirsty, I get a moist cloth

I fade in and out, I have an IV with various bags of fluid running into me
once in a while, I hear Mom talking in muffled tones to someone about
Infection, I'm aware that the darkness is gone, and I thank God ...
