You are generous and fair
though You call Yourself cheap You offer me more than time and ears enough a Dandelion who spreads His snowy crown and then showers the ground I tread with the seeds of Your abundant love You are kinder... as when the winter fades and the gentlest rain begins to fall then sweeten the earth I am your soil as Your rain softens my wounded heart You are the Lark who sings singularly like No Other but Himself and I soar in flight with You when I hear You sing You are the warmth on my face as You greet me early in the morning my Sun who refuses me not then, shines You are the Smile on a young child's face dimpled and goofily-grinning and eating His first icecream and licking the dribbles from His shirt and chin You are Your Eyes olive-emerald deep ponds which hint briefly at what lies beneath and yet You chose to reveal Your secrets with me together we laugh like two cackle-ducks sharing a joke our laughter rippling across the water and interrupting the cool veneer of silence You can be private but You can be so near and when You reach for my hand the heat in Yours sears mine my smaller fingers melt into Yours knowing I'm safe and happy Here With You LEGAL COPYRIGHT FOR THIS ODE/POEM AND ALSO FOR THIS WRITER MELISSA A HOWELLS AND ALSO FOR THIS LEGALLY COPYRIGHTED SITE TITLE MELOO STRAIGHT FROM HER TILT-A-WORLD 3:46 PM PST MONDAY JULY 6 2018 TIME/DATE STAMPED FOR LEGAL COPYRIGHT Vote for this poem |
