Out for a walk one day I spotted a little elf
Nobody with him he looked sad sat by himself,
Slowly I walked up and sat down right beside him
Looking at his face it seemed that things were grim.
He turned his head and I saw tears were in his eyes
Then he took a deep breath releasing such big sighs,
I must find out why he is sad and what he`s gone through
Then maybe I can help and perhaps know just what to do.
We talked for a little while and he told me of his plight
He told how he had lost his home one very windy night,
The toadstool where he had lived had simply blown away
And he was trying to find somewhere else to stay.
I promised I would help him in any way I could
I put him in my hand then went deep into the wood,
We saw many toadstools some broken some okay
I told him we would find him a home this very day.
After searching for some time I put him on the ground
He wandered here and there taking a look around,
We spotted what could be the perfect little dome
With a smile he said `I`ll make this my new home`.
The little elf is settled now in his nice new abode
With a wave I left him and through the woods I strode,
I was happy that I could help it made me feel good
And I will visit him next time I pass through this wood.
