GOODNESS BY ME
In troublous days when hearts but fret
And there is not the least of hopes
And men are soaked from sole to crown
I've got it all – goodness by me.
Goodness by me, my song of hope
I've got by me the priced of hopes
So, while all weep, I'll spread my tongue!
I'll sing this song – “goodness by me”!
Goodness by me that spells the grin
When days are unfriendly and drear
And hearts trodden by burdens cry –
I'll chant it then – “goodness by me”
Blest heavens! Days are here that seem
I've lost all and have not a pin
I'm vulnerable, beaten by thieves
Oh praise the Lord! Goodness by me!
