NIGHTIMONY

My zeal was to wholly perish
My search for life with all my power
Once suggested to quit to heaven
If at last God did watched them kill me.

Surrounded by the thieves of life
Pursued by horrid hornets harsh
Stung badly on the belly by bees;
My class with life, have you just finished?

Construct my hopes a way to heaven.
Forget my rests, forget my seasons.
My gifts may not be loved or needed
While I dragged with satan for a living.

Cushion conscience, roughest of seasons
Never to say a word to heaven
That's bad; my Lord and God forgive it –
To think so bad my case, forsaken?

I knew always on day was coming
When I would not for once but suffer
Any more of the things I suffered
That day did come and now I'm happy
