I never knew what God's grace meant
until love came into my life briefly.
I found the other half of myself
and we were two months away
from celebrating our wedding day.

Yet we are not given
the sure promise of our time on Earth.
My true love passed away swiftly
and without much notice
as his brain bled away his life.

But grace has carried me through
on wings of faith, tears of surrender.
I know where my love is
and I will see him once again
when grace leads me to my forever home.

Love remains within my grieving heart
and I still hope to experience
a greater love than I have ever known.
Because grace allows me to live in that hope
and grace will lead me back to my waiting mate.
