By Their Wedding Bands
In retrospect, infant cries
and congratulations full of cheer
Baby sighs and lullabies
are things we hold dear
Santa Claus and make believe,
all sorts of newfound joys
The new perceive and achieve
stepping stones and toys
From grade school to prom night,
memories of school days,
with new insight that comes to light
to enter the adult maze
Today we witness two become one
with the future in their hands
Hearts won, future begun
by their wedding bands
