 JANET'S PLANET

Summer Is Ending

Summer arrived late this year.
It too must end.
One single golden leaf dangling from a tree,
A sure sign that Summer is ending.
Soon trees swaying in the wind will lose leaves.
Sounds of Summer will no longer be heard:
lawnmowers
construction works
music in the air
giggles and squeals
crickets all through the night
splashing waters
birds chirping
fireworks
Summer activities:
going to beaches, boating
barbecues, picnics, outdoor cooking, camping
carnivals, festivals
hiking, biking
Puffy clouds, blue skies turning gray
Sunshine warmth fades away
Flowers on display fall asleep
The end is coming
Summer will close its curtains.
