He touched my heart

Eulogy

Gidday! Listen up, I have something to share,
Though I have no clew as just who is here.
My first breathes were a struggle, yes, ‘tis true,
My skin was bright yellow, what could they do?
A grease and oil change of a medical kind,
Yes, that was on the paediatrician's mind.
My life was saved through a generous gift,
My father's blood gave the required count lift.

This troubled start to my earthly pathway,
Is rather symbolic of what I want to say.
No one taught me just how to cheat and lie,
It came quite natural to this little guy.
The solution of stick or soapy mouth rinsed,
Ineffective were they, of that I‘m convinced.
My life was saved through an unmerited gift,
My Saviour's blood, my sin and guilt did shift.

When journeying on life's road many a year,
Some will drive for great wealth in top gear,
Others drive for public fame and great power,
Others absorbed in pleasures, hour by hour.
I was a slow learner in many a way,
And I could not spell to my very last day.
But I did learn that to store wealth above,
Be humble, serve others, show Godly love.

I will not boast of successes in life,
I will give credit to a most faithful wife.
The real me is so tainted with darkest sin,
I have no self-worth, just failure within.
So now that I have knocked at heaven's door,
My access code is as mentioned before.
Not a list of helpful things I have done,
But forgiveness through the blood of God's son.

(No, I haven't died yet, however,
one never knows when we will cross that hurdle.)
