In band
I played
The flute ~
A silver-plated
Flute
Whose paint
Was wearing away.
Why?
Because my parents
Were cheapskates...
And didn't care
Until I had
An allergic reaction.
I was
A terrible
flautist.
My mouth
Wasn't formed
To the flute.
My fingers
Were too short
To cover the holes.
And all
I could
Think about
Was jammin'
On a saxophone 🎷
The way
My grandmother did
Before me...
