“Colors Splashed”

The colors splashed
across her room
as she spun
herself around
her music loud
her body light
she drops onto
the ground
the summer sun
shines through
her hair
as the dew
begins to die
a distant dog
howls to the
wind
she thinks about
a guy
she changes shirts
zips up her
jeans
her mirror gets
a nod
she hits repeat
and mouths
the words
she really loves
the song
her phone
blows up
he’s on his
way
pouty lips
a shade of
red
her look is
hitting hard
right now
who says that
rock is dead
her eyes go
wide
they take it
in
her world in
a box
too many
words
not much to
say
her life
runs icy hot
she wraps it
up
tomorrow’s
day
she sets it
on a shelf
another time
a different
way
her beating
heart
won’t melt
the colors
cascade down
the walls
like dreams
that turned
to liquid
a waterfall
of thoughts
and things
she lost
when
fifteen
got evicted
no answers
to electric
moods
that bring
forth
speculation
just step
aside
enjoy the
ride
this girl
is going to
break it…
