Self Truths

Shooting Stars

The feeling of rushing through the vastness,
The shock of your unexpected brightness.
Pure exhilaration at the presence of another so bright
Burning so bright I might not see anything for your light
I chased after your brilliant sparkle to no avail,
I found myself drifting behind barely able to see your tail,
I continued to make my travels and there you were again,
I thought it fate until you escaped my reach no matter my aim,
When I saw you would be there once more,
I swore to harden myself like never before,
I don't know how I held together watching you flee,
I knew only there would never be a you and me
