A spell like no other
It wept and it crept through the tinsel
Of time, a spell like no other was coming
To life. Forbidding, ill-natured and fraught
With denial, a nastier spell it would be
Hard to find.
A spell like no other, a wicked device, a
A contrivance of evil for All Hallows’
Night. Beware if you find it slipped into
A book, it’s not a bookmark, but a mark
Of bad luck.
The tinsel of time a sparkling charade,
A misleading route to regret and dismay,
A source of misfortune, ill will and
Complaint, a shiny illusion, a glittering
Mistake.
A spell like no other, a spell with a
Grudge, a spell with the smell of a
Grave freshly dug. A graveyard
Contortion, a frightener in rhyme, a
Hallowe’en spell of the creepiest
Kind.
And thus so it was on All Hallows’ Eve,
Spells were cast widely for tricks and
For treats. But amongst all the fun was
A spell hidden deep, was it found? Was
It cast? I can’t say, but could be.
