Singer Sewing Machine Blues

NEC Birmingham for
An exhibition of quilting
Just the first  day and
The will to live is wilting.
Then she saw this Singer
It was love at first sight
And with some bargaining
The price was just right
I didn't have the energy
To dare to say no
I'd have bought anything
Just so we could go.
It sits on its table
Resplendently there
As she sit and operates
From her cushioned chair.

She's cutting and pressing
And to-Ing  and fro-ing
Resolutely involved in
All matters sewing
And then our Lidll store
Had a special offer
So now it's companion
Is a Singer overlocker.
She's  made more lady shirts than
Any footie  crowd could wear
And she's made pyjamas
Two or three pair
One of our bedrooms is
A bedroom no more
There's a lip service bed
Buts it's her fabric store,

So much of her life
Is devoted to sewing
And she barely notices
How my hair is growing
Now I can read all day
In my comfy chair
Put what I want on tele
She just doesn't care
She sits there as happy
As I've every seen
Slaving away at
That  sewing machine
I'm a Singer widower
And it's just sublime
And  folks I'm  having
Such a wonderful time.
