Bucket List

A few weeks before he died we were able to arrange a meeting for Brian with another Korean War Veterans. He knew he was terminally ill and it was on his bucket list.  Thanks to Padre Ralph for helping arrange this and for Noel for taking part.
RIP Cfn Brian McGowan, REME. aged 86

We only knew him
For a little while,
Heard his ready banter,
Saw his ready smile
As he and Noel chatted away
About common experiences
Of their service days,
There in Korea where
Many saw such evil sights
For years they experienced
Disturbed and sleepless nights.

Now we are gathered
With his family and friends
As this part of
His story ends.
Released from his pain
From this life he is gone
The Lord in His wisdom
Having moved him on.
In the last parade's ranks
No longer an empty space
For with quiet dignity
He has taken his place.
