Blood on a Shamrock

Blood On A Shamrock                 Nov 11th, 2018

I found a shamrock as I walked my road
I thought of Ireland and the people that died
Blood on a shamrock like the blood on the rose
Bad days of the past with memories so close
Men, women and children died by the gun
Victims of life, goodbye everyone
Fighting for a country, a country not mine
We'll give you freedom. things will be fine
A tin hat and a gun, the fight had begun
We fought together I didn't know anyone
No time for goodbye, I know they died
No one listened as the volunteers cried
The smoke and the smell, the bombs from hell
Stories of death, our heroes won't tell
I found a shamrock as I walked my road
I thought of Ireland and the people that died
