New Perspective

It seems that I have had my share
Of the killer known as stress
Which almost stole my health away
When I failed to decompress.

And calm my deep frustrations
The worry and dwindling hope
Lest the mounting pressure took from me
My ability to cope.

But I didn't see the danger
Of fretting endlessly
Over things that never mattered much
Or those not meant to be.

And that became my bugaboo
A weight I carried around
That served to get the best of me
And eventually pulled me down.

But I've a new perspective now
I'm fighting off the stress
Because my health depends upon
My need to decompress.
