Poetic Verses
According to Holy Scripture
According to Holy Scripture
Man is given to miscue
For the things he would, he often won't
While the opposite is true.
But that's man's sinful nature
Which wars within his mind
Against the will to serve the Lord
Though to evil, he's inclined.
Yes, man can be a reprobate
A frequent slave to sin
When he would yield to godlessness
In spite of his chagrin.
But he cannot serve two masters
So, the answer must be prayer
That his enticements be restrained
As he battles to forbear.
Not forgetting that he's human
Who so wants to do good
Though his sinful nature urges him
To behave as heathens would.

When for the things he would, he won't
While the opposite is true.
