You carried me away, down, down beneath,
seemed so shivering cold; yet somehow so warm
those arms that I couldn't help but drown in.
But in drowning I found my best, my true alive
and I learned how to breathe underneath the waves.
Oh, but the waves rolled in and cascaded over
pulling me down to the bottom of the sea.
The tightness of your molten hugs so readily given
now a distant memory, a beam of light
in the darkness of your departure, your loss.
I prayed so hard, so long for you to stay with me.
Don't go, please don't leave me alone and empty.
But the ocean of Heaven's shimmering depths
called your name, drew you into the deep
where I could not go, drowned you in the sea of His love.
